The assessment process takes approximately three months to complete from the first home visit to approval.
After you apply we will contact you to discuss your application and view your property. The assessment process is a series of meetings with you, and a self-assessment which you complete. Successful applicants are put to an independent panel once all the checks and references are back.

Being a Shared Lives main carer is a paid role.
The current rate for standard carer responsibilities is £361.14 per week. If a person placed in your home has additional needs we will pay you more. All fees are agreed before placement.
Additional fees are based on an assessment of support needs of the person you’re looking after. These are any additional needs over the standard provision of care.
You'll get an additional £13.15 per hour.
Being part of Shared Lives means being part of a professional team; you have access to a variety of mentoring support channels and training. This will help to maintain and enhance your skills to provide quality care in your home.
The scheme is registered and regulated by the Care Quality Commission.
