How to apply
Before you apply you must have:
- a standard DBS check – this must be less than one month old when you submit your personal licence, otherwise your application will be rejected
- an accredited qualification
- proof of the right to work in the UK

You can request a DBS check on GOV.UK.
Information you need to include
Your application must include:
- 2 passport sized photographs with a white background, one of the photographs must be signed by an approved professional
- proof of right to work in the UK – for example, a current passport or birth certificate
- any licensing qualification that proofs you can sell alcohol
- the original DBS disclosure form.
- a completed certificate of disclosure of convictions form
- payment of the fee for the application

Application fee
The fee for a licence application is £37.
How to pay
You can pay the licence fee online using our payment portal, by phone, or by post.
Online
- open our online payment portal
- select 'licences/registrations/permits' from the Product search drop-down at the top of the page and press View
- then select 'Personal licence application' and follow the instructions
- return a copy of your payment receipt with your application
By phone
You can pay using a credit or debit card by phoning the licensing team on the number at the bottom of the page.
By post
Send a cheque or postal order for £37 made payable to Croydon Council. We do not accept cash.
Submit your application form, supporting documents and fee
You'll need to submit your forms, supporting documents and your payment (or online payment receipt) to the Licensing team at the address below.
