Responsible authorities and where to send your application

Responsible authorities include the police, planning and fire authorities, health and safety and child protection. You may have to send a copy of your licence application to some or all of them.

Depending on the type of licence application you're making, you may have to send a copy of your application to some or all of the responsible authorities on this list. 

  • New applications for a premises licence or a club premises certificate
    Send your application to all responsible authorities
  • Variation of a premises licence or a club premises certificate
    Send your application to all responsible authorities
  • Minor variation
    Send your application to the licensing authority only
  • Review of a premises licence or a club premises certificate
    Send your application to all responsible authorities and the premises licence or club certificate holder
  • Transfer of a premises licence or variation to the designated premises supervisor
    Send your application to the licensing authority and the police only
  • Temporary Event Notice (TENS)
    Send 2 copies to the licensing authority, one to the police and one to the public health team
  • Personal licence
    Send your application to the licensing authority only
