How to apply for permission to store and use radioactive and other hazardous substances.
Under the Radioactive Substances Act 1993, companies authorised to use radioactive substances should be on a public register.
There is only one company currently authorised to use radioactive substance in Croydon:
Centronic
King Henry Drive
New Addington

Under the Planning (Hazardous Substances) Act 1990 and associated Regulations you must apply for permission if you wish to store or use defined quantities of hazardous substances, such as natural gas or petrol. This is so that we can assess risk of fire, explosion etc to people in the surrounding area.
