Emergency support

You can apply for discretionary housing payments if you live in Croydon and are in financial hardship and need emergency support.

Energy supplier grants

If you are falling into debt, your energy supplier may offer grants to help you. 

Find out if you are eligible:

Cold Weather Payment

You may get Cold Weather Payments if you’re getting certain benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest. 

You’ll get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather between November and March.

Winter Fuel Payment

The Winter Fuel Payment for 2025 to 2026 will be made to everyone in England and Wales born before 22 September 1959, unless you choose not to get it. 

You could get either £200 or £300 to help you pay your heating bills for winter.

Warm Home Discount

If you're on a low income or receiving pension credit, you may be eligible for a discount on your energy bills.

This scheme will reopen in October 2025.

WaterSure help for water bills

WaterSure is a scheme which helps some people with their water bills. 

You may be eligible to apply if you receive certain benefits, have a high water usage and use a meter.
