We have launched a major improvement programme across housing services after commissioning an independent investigation into unacceptable conditions in some of the council properties at Regina Road, South Norwood.
We have accepted the findings of the report and are drawing up a programme of improvement works to transform our housing services, and will set up a Housing Improvement Board to oversee this work.
The board, which will include council resident representatives and an independent chair, will hold regular meetings in public and examine the council’s housing services, both in terms of resident satisfaction and overall performance.
We have already taken immediate action to address the issues at Regina Road, including a full building safety inspection. More widely, repairs and complaints procedures are being reviewed and improved as a priority, and precautionary checks of all our high-rise blocks have begun.
