Seaside and Country Homes scheme

A scheme offering council and housing association tenants over the age of 55 the opportunity to move out of London to homes across England.

Seaside and County Homes are offering over 3000 properties to eligible applicants. Most of the properties offered are two-bedroom bungalows or one-bedroom flats. Around 150 households move from London through this scheme.

Due to the scheme's popularity, there is no guarantee you will be rehoused. Offers vary depending on location and demand.

Who can apply

You can apply if at least one member of the household must be over 55 years of age.

A joint application can be made if the lead applicant is at least 55 years of age and a current tenant of the property on the application.

Applications from 3 person households where 2 members are a couple, and the third person is a carer or dependant adult child are also considered.

Who cannot apply

Applications will not be considered if you:

  • have rent arrears
  • have a history of anti-social behaviour
  • are going through possession or eviction proceedings

How to apply

For further information and to submit an application, visit the Seaside and Country Homes scheme website.

Due to demand, people in larger homes wishing to downsize have higher priority.
