Croydon Clocktower

We want everybody in Croydon to be able to enjoy all that the Clocktower has to offer. If you require assistance, please ask at the ticket office, which is on your immediate left as you enter the building.

Guide dogs are welcome throughout the building. Water is provided by the court lift entrance.

The café is self-service, but staff will be happy to serve you at your table if you would like help.

Mobility impairments

Croydon Clocktower is fully wheelchair accessible with ramps to the entrances and lifts or ramps inside the building. Two wheelchairs are available for use while you are in the building

There are several wheelchair-accessible toilets. 

Baby changing facilities are available in the first floor wheelchair accessible toilet. There is also wheelchair access to the baby changing room in the children's library on the ground floor.

In the library, the online catalogue terminals are on desks that can be used from a seated position and the racks for CDs and CD ROMs are wheelchair friendly. Much of the stock is accessible from a seated position, and we are happy to help with any items that are out of reach.

Sight impairments

Croydon Clocktower is entered down a ramp or a flight of shallow steps with edges marked in white and handrails on both sides.

A CCTV image enhancer is available on the third floor of the library. We can move it to wherever you would like to use it. We can also photocopy enlargements of information.

In the Riesco Gallery, there is a spoken commentary to the introductory video.  Exhibits are labelled with either white text on a black background, or black text on white.

Hearing impairments

Each floor of the library has an enquiry desk fitted with an induction loop.
