The Borough Archive contains over 1200 unique collections (138k+ items) relating to the London Borough of Croydon, its predecessor bodies and the diverse community it now serves.

The Local History Collection includes published materials relating to the history of Croydon, including:

  • newspapers on microfilm
  • local history books and journals
  • pamphlets, photographs
  • maps
  • a large collection of sales particulars

The Research Room

Visit the Research Room to find out more about the history of Croydon, including your family, street and local community. You can also request to see items from our collections held in storage, including the archives, oral history and art collections.

Our opening hours are Wednesdays and Fridays, 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.

The Research Room is open by appointment, with walk-ins available for open access resources, if there is availability.
