We welcomed over 70 attendees of all ages, with local councillors, our friends from Mencap, Floating Hub’s Holiday club, the Wellderlies’ group and our Park partners - the Friends of Ashburton Park, Ashburton Park Petanque Club and the Ashburton Park Bowling Club.
We buried a time capsule with their contributions for park users to open in 2125. We enjoyed afternoon tea, played lawn games and got crafty with leaf printing as well as celebrating the dedication of our long-term volunteers Mary Leather and Mary Guruparan. We also celebrated the life of volunteer Helen Buckland who volunteered for many years in the park and local area, with a bench dedicated in her memory.
“Ashburton Park is one of Croydon’s jewels – a place of heritage, pride, and community spirit – and it’s exciting to see it enter its next century”- Mayor Jason Perry
“The atmosphere was great! The children didn’t want to leave” -Community Hub leader
