Addington, Bridle Way runs along the northern boundary.
25 acres 10.12 Hectares.
Threehalfpenny Wood is bordered to the north by Bridle Way, one of five ancient tracks that ran through Spring Park. This way is still undeveloped and has not become a modern road. To the east is the Kent Border and Spring Park in the Borough of Bromley, and to the south the village of Addington, Spout Hill lies to the west.
The unusual name is thought to have been linked to an incident in the early 19th century. In 1805 the body of a man, Robert Rutter, was discovered in a pond near the woodland and the only means of identification was the sum of 1 1/2d which he was known to have had on him when he disappeared from the village of Sanderstead three years earlier in December 1802. He was the Parish Clerk of Sanderstead and the incident is recorded in one of the village registers.
"1802 Robert Rutter, Clerk of this Parish 14 years, left his house on Sunday the 19th December 1802 and has not been heard of since." (his body found in a pond near Addington, May 30th 1805.)
The woodland has a mixture of trees including Birch and Oak, and has a variety of birds and small animals.
