History

The field was once an education playing field with cricket pitches, and the area beside the ambulance station was a depot for the Council tree surgeons.  

When the tree surgeons relocated to another site, the depot was demolished and the wildflower meadow laid out.  This major work was funded by Tramlink in addition to an extension to Three Half Penny Wood, in return for land lost when the tram routes were constructed
