In May 2020 Croydon Council was awarded funding from the Department for Transport’s (DfT) Active Travel Fund and Transport for London’s (TfL) London Streetspace Programme to create more space for people to safely walk or cycle in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The existing schemes implemented last year and proposed improvements are funded through externally secured grants from TfL and the Department of Transport’s Streetspace, Healthy Street and Active Travel Programmes
All surplus money from penalty charge notices goes towards transport schemes, including the Freedom Pass for over-60s.
