Clinical waste

Hygiene waste can be put in your general rubbish bin. We can collect sharps boxes but your other clinical waste should be collected by your healthcare provider.

Disposing of your hygiene waste

Hygiene waste is non-infectious or non-hazardous waste such as:

  • stoma bags
  • sanitary towels
  • incontinence pads
  • nappies

Your hygiene waste does not need a special collection. You should put hygiene waste in a regular black bin bag and into your general rubbish bin.

If you have a disability or health condition, you may be eligible for a larger bin. Call us on 020 8726 6000.

Disposing of your clinical waste

Clinical waste is infectious or hazardous waste such as:

  • human tissue

Your clinical waste must be collected separately from your household rubbish.

We do not collect clinical waste (apart from sharps boxes for syringes and needles). You need to contact your GP surgery or healthcare provider to arrange for your clinical waste to be collected.
