We promote a wide range of lifelong learning opportunities for residents at venues across the borough.
You can view available courses on the CALAT website.
CALAT provides vibrant, high-quality adult learning opportunities on behalf of the London Borough of Croydon. We are one of the largest adult education providers in the country, offering over 1,000 part-time courses to over 20,000 people every year.
We offer flexible and accessible learning to a diverse range of people across the borough in over forty venues. Our award-winning provision includes a mixed programme of recreational, academic, pre-vocational and vocational courses in ICT, ESOL, English and maths, business, community care, art and design, languages, practical skills and vocational training for people with bilingual skills.
Our wide range of courses enable people to improve their existing qualifications and skills with us or with partner training organisations. We provide vocational and job search training and deliver training in the workplace for specialised workforce development opportunities. These include NVQ Care programmes offering training and workplace assessment in the voluntary, private and public sectors, ICT and management training with small and medium-sized enterprises, and basic skills provision for home office employees.
For more information visit the CALAT website.
Croydon College, Coulsdon College and John Ruskin College also have courses for adults.
Information about adult education courses can also be found on the Learndirect website.
Surveys reveal that almost half a million under fives visit accident and emergency departments every year due to accidents in the home. The Red Cross believes these statistics demonstrate a need for parents to learn how to cope with emergency situations such as choking, breathing difficulties and burns.
The British Red Cross is one of the world's most trusted providers of first aid training and is running 'Save a Life' courses throughout London to teach parents and carers of children life saving first aid skills.
