You can apply to the discretionary support fund if you live in Croydon and are in financial hardship and need emergency support.

DHP - Shortfall in rent

A discretionary payment can be awarded for a short time usually 3 months if you are struggling to pay your ongoing rent or if there is a shortfall in the rent, you will need to demonstrate:

 

  • You are in receipt of a qualifying benefit i.e Universal Credit or Housing Benefit
  • You have negotiated with your landlord to reduce your rent
  • You are seeking employment 
  • You have increased your existing work hours where possible
  • Budgeting
  • Moving to a more affordable property
  • Seeking additional supporting benefits to help maximise your income if you are impacted by your health, such as PIP or DLA

If you meet the above criteria you can apply online. You will need to  supply the following evidence:

  • Budget planner 
  • 3 months bank statement for all accounts held – (This includes those living with you, partner and non-dependants who are 18 or over.)
  • 3 months proof of income i.e. payslips or Universal Credit (This includes those living with you, partner and non-dependants who are 18 or over.)
  •  Landlord details including email address
