Fostering payments are made weekly, and are made up of an allowance to be spent on the child, and a fee for yourself.

Your level reflects your experience and the training you complete. As a Croydon foster carer, you’ll be supported every step of the way to grow, develop, and progress in your role.

Specialist fostering roles are paid at a higher rate of £600 per week.

Additional payments and benefits

The additional payments available are:

  • Council Tax reimbursement
  • retention bonus of £1,500 per year after 3 years of fostering for Croydon
  • welcome bonus of £1,500 for transferring carers
  • birthday allowance up to £309 per year
  • festival allowance up to £309 per year
  • holiday allowance for the child up to £618 per year
  • holiday allowance for the foster carer up to £700 per year
  • referral reward of £1,200 upon approval of new carers
  • Start up grant of £500
  • School uniform allowance of £300 per year

In total, you will receive between £570 and £942 per week, per child depending on the child's age. This includes your allowance, fees and any additional payments.
