We are improving our site by involving residents.
Help us continue to improve by giving your feedback
Since 2016 we have been involving local people in an improvement programme, making the High Street and Brigstock Road more attractive, with funding from the GLA. This included new pavements and road improvements, upgrades to shop
fronts, wall art by local artists along the high street, and improvements to the forecourt of Ambassador House.
Like all high streets in London and across the country, Thornton Heath is changing and adapting to new ways of shopping and working, and housing growth will bring new residents to the area. In line with this we have developed a plan which will help
to influence future development in the area.
Between summer 2020 and spring 2021, the council engaged residents, businesses and other community stakeholders to inform the development of the Thornton Heath High Street Plan.
We have now published two documents based on this feedback. The two documents
are:
1. The Plan – this is a slightly longer, more technical document, to inform the Croydon Local Plan and future development.
2. The Manual – this sets out practical projects that could be taken forward to help deliver the Plan, either by the community themselves, or in partnership with developers and/or the council.
You can read a summary of all the feedback received in Part 3 of the Plan.
Following publication of the documents, community stakeholders worked with the High Streets Task Force to strengthen community involvement in identifying funding and taking forward the ideas within the Plan. Three workshops were held in
April and May 2021.
