If you wish to trade in metals or motor salvage you will need to apply for either a site licence or a mobile collectors licence or both.

Renew your licence

If you already hold a licence you will be sent a renewal letter approximately one month before it expires.

You need to complete a tax check before you can renew your licence. 

Scrap metal renewal and variation fees

There are different fees for site and collector licences, for both renewals and variations to existing licences.

Scrap metal dealer - site

  • Variation to licence: £316
  • Renewal: £520

Scrap metal dealer - collector

  • Variation to licence: £247
  • Renewal: £404

Pay your renewal fee

You can pay by cheque or you can make a card payment over the phone.

To pay by cheque, send a cheque for the correct amount, made payable to Croydon Council, to:
