Costs

Residents living in sheltered housing will need to pay:

  • rent
  • service charges, these include caretaking, cleaning, security, grounds maintenance, communal lighting and staffing costs
  • heating and hot water charges if the scheme has a shared system
  • electricity and gas
  • water rates
  • council tax
  • home contents insurance

Sheltered housing is not part of the Right to Buy scheme.
