Results of consultation and cabinet report

The Executive Mayor will consider a report on the outcome of the six-week statutory consultation with tenants, leaseholders, and freeholders living within the consultation area at Regina Road.

79% of residents shared their views during the consultation. Residents were asked for their views on the option to either refurbish or demolish and rebuild homes within the consultation area on the estate. We also asked for their views on the draft ‘Landlord Offer to tenants, leaseholders, and freeholders, should a decision be taken to demolish and rebuild homes.

Cabinet Report

The report was presented to the Executive Mayor and Cabinet at 6.30pm on Wednesday 22 March.

At the meeting, Croydon Council Cabinet formally approved the following recommendations:

  1. To demolish and rebuild homes within the consultation area on the estate is the Council's preferred way forward (as opposed to refurbishing the blocks), with the final decision being taken after the ballot.

  2. To accept the changes to the draft Landlord Offer, reflecting feedback received by residents during the consultation.

  3. To hold a formal ballot of eligible residents between April and May, in which residents will vote yes or no on the revised Landlord Offer to tenants, leaseholders and freeholders within the consultation area.

We have written to residents to explain what decisions have been made, what this means for them, and who to talk to if they have questions.

What happens next?

Residents within the consultation area will receive a letter from an independent voting company who will be managing the ballot.

We have asked Civica Election Services to independently run the voter verification and ballot process. The letter asks residents to confirm the details we hold about eligible residents in each household. Residents can contact Civica directly on the details provided in the letter if they feel an eligible member of the household has not been included in this list

The final Landlord Offer (PDF, 2.4MB) was published and provided to residents by hard copy on Monday, 27 March 2023.

There are many drop-ins and events for residents in the lead up to the ballot in April. To see details of these visit our timeline and events page.

Residents can also contact their Independent Tenant and Leaseholder Advisors. Visit this page for the contact details.
