Supplementary planning documents (SPDs) including the opportunity area planning framework, Croydon suburban design guide and further guidance to Croydon's unitary development plan (UDP).
Consultation on the Purley Way masterplan SPD ran until 16 March 2021. Responses are now being analysed and will be used to produce the final version of the document. This will inform and feed into the review of the Croydon local plan
Suburban Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD2) - revocation
The Council on 25th July 2022 agreed the revocation of the Croydon suburban design guide supplementary planning document (SPD2). SPD2 will no longer be used as material guidance for determining planning applications with immediate effect from the 26th July 2022.
The Suburban Design Guide is not part of the Local Plan, but a Supplementary Planning Document which forms part of the Local Development Framework and informs how policies are applied and interpreted. The policies in the Local Plan and Development Plan remain unchanged.
In accordance with Regulation 15 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012, notice is hereby given that the Council has revoked the following supplementary planning document, which adds further detail to the policies in the adopted Croydon Local Plan 2018.
Croydon Suburban Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD) adopted by Croydon Council in April 2019.
Any person with sufficient interest in the decision to revoke the Suburban Design Guide Supplementary Planning Document (SPD2) may apply to the High Court for permission to apply for judicial review of the decision. Any such application must be made promptly and, in any event, no later than 25th October 2022.
The copies of the SPD will also be available on request up to the date above by email ldf@croydon.gov.uk

The Croydon opportunity area planning framework (COAPF) was adopted by the council on 22 April 2013 as a supplementary planning document to the Croydon local plan - strategic polices. Furthermore, the COAPF was adopted by the Mayor as supplementary planning guidance to the London plan on 16 January 2013.
The COAPF was prepared jointly by the Greater London Authority (GLA) and London Borough of Croydon (LBC) in partnership with Transport for London (TfL).
The COAPF provides additional guidance on existing development plan policies.
The Croydon opportunity area planning framework, integrated impact assessment and technical appendix can all be viewed below.
Sets out guidelines on how to approach the design of developments and external spaces to make the borough a safer and better place in which to live, work and play.

Supplementary planning guidances (SPGs) were prepared to provide further guidance to Croydon's unitary development plan (UDP).
The Mayor of London's SPGs should also be referred to, and can be found at the Greater London Authority website.
The SPGs that are currently in use in Croydon and remain material considerations to determining proposals and to provide guidance for developers and landowners can be downloaded below.
