Update April 2022

Statutory consultation for making permanent Traffic Management Orders (TMO) under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, to assist cycling in the Old Town Area, Croydon.

A previous letter dated 3 March 2022 on the above subject advised that a consultation had commenced on 24 February 2022 and would end on 24 March 2022. Whilst the letter was correct in its content, unfortunately, it was delayed in being sent to recipients. Therefore, those affected by this consultation did not receive sufficient opportunity to make representations in time.

The council apologises for this error and in acknowledgement of this, has agreed that the statutory consultation will be repeated after the May 2022 local council elections. This is to ensure that anyone wishing to make representations is given the required statutory period of 21 days to review and respond to the proposals.

The council would like to thank those who were able to submit representations in response to the previous letter, despite the short time scale provided. The responses are highly valued and will be taken into account when considering any amendments to the schemes prior to the new 21-day statutory consultation, which is expected to commence after the local elections.  The council will write to you again, nearer to the time when the new consultation is launched, giving details on how to respond.
